We have a new 2004 545i with the navigation system and Logic 7 (mfr 7/04). Whenever I turn on the car, the stereo turns on, too. I could have not listened to the stereo the entire trip and then gotten out of the car. The next day I start the car and the stereo comes on. Is this a "feature"?

Also, our previous X5 used to have RDS and the manual for the 545 says it has it, but I can't see it. Is there an option to turn this on?

Thanks a lot in advance for any ideas.

Regards,

Piers

On mine, if it was turned off, it stays off when I turn the car on the next time. I had version 11.3 now I have 13.2 as of today.

Welcome to the forum.

The RDS was turned off by BMW due to operational problems.

I've haven't seen the "auto' radio turn on as a feature in the iDrive.

If it's reproducible, sounds like something for the dealer to check out.

Same problem here, its a 'feature' in software version 12, should be fixed in the new 13.1-2.

Same issues as pierslingle here. Version 12.x. No RDS - I have been waiting to see if version 13.x solves this problem. Last audio source comes on when restarting the car. Not a big issue if you remember to turn it down before turning the car off.

Per Service Measure B65 228 04: This is a software issue on vehicles with the CCC (Central Communication Computer). Basically what happens is the Audio off/mute mode is not stored after sleep mode. No parts to replace. This is still under investigation. The measure number stated here will be updated as soon as a solution is ready.

Hope this helps everyone!

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. I guess I need to wait for it to be solved by BMW (?)...

Piers
