just be careful in ohio. the police think speeding is worse than nearly any other crime possible. it's got to be their biggest source of income
At least Ohio tickets don't cause me to get any points on my Pennsylvania license!

Also, Ohio speeding fines are a bargain compared to those in Pennsylvania.

(I know I'm simply jinxing myself by even talking about this subject -- the last ticket I got was in Ohio just last year. Before that, I hadn't had a ticket in probably 15 years!)

i just assume that feeding the police with tickets on occasion is the necessary funding procedure in order to have a little 'Autobahn' existance from time to time. it's the cost of doing business.

There is also a nice straight shot between Trier and Luxembourg. Don't know if you have been on the new A60 portion either but there is a nice straight shot from Spangdahelm and the the border of Belgium.

Icy,
I was in DS, if that is what it is called. I was shifting manually with the steptronic. As far as autobahn that are strait enough. There are two here: A5 between Darmstadt and Frankfurt, about 20km. There is A67 between Mainhiem and Darmstadt where I was. Both are strait, you could land a plane if it was not for the bridges

Sorry for you all in the states. This is an experience that can't be explained. Car run at 140mph same as 60mph, nice and smooth. I had to smoke a cigarette after
LOL - just like sex then

kigerka,
Been on that straight between Trier and Luxemburg before been a couple of years. I had a Volvo 850, while I was living in Bitburg back in 93. Did not join the BMW club until 96 (318i).

Have you joined the 140+ club?

The nice thing is that you don't need too much space to get it up to 'autobahn' speeds with this car. I have got mine 'all the way up' a couple of times (a little light in the front end around 150). I take her out on the highway very very very early in the morning when there are no cars on the road, except maybe Bufford T. Justice but thats what the V1 is for

Spec33,
Not yet. My previous car was an 84 320i. Needless to say it was on poor condition. I hope to join the 140 club as soon as I break in my car.

Even if you are in DS, can't you step to 6th and it will stay??? Or does the DS program over-ride the 6th even if selected manually?

This shouldn't happen. Remember that the DS mode (drive/sport) is still an automatic program, so as soon as you switch to a manual program (e.g. M6) it should stay in manual.
