Hi,

I finally got my car. Built 5/19. And I must tell you the wait is well worth it. The sports package is a must on this car. I only have 200 miles so.. here is my take so far.

Engine:

One of the smoothest engine I have experienced. Due to break in period I only pushed up to 4000 rmp.. and I must say it just wanna go.. can't wait until the break in period is over. If you have the budget go for 545. ( Question: sometime when I start the engine.. instead of one smooth engine start I do hear one short click sound at end of the start. I wonder if thats normal. Has anyone experience this?)

Handling:

I have 330i w/ SP and I believe e60 w/ SP handles better. It is so solid on corners, it makes you a better driver. I love the active steering, it just feels like a go cart, can't describe any other way. ( I just wish steering wheel was alittle stiffer on stand still to 5 to 10mph... no biggie.) You just have to drive it... you will love it.

Brakes:

It stops on a dime. Very solid.

Interior:

Simple and yet elegant. (I believe if BMW used some different trimming on climate control backplane and other areas in center console.. it will look must better. Can't compaint though. My salesman said, off the record some minor retrofit will be coming soon) I-Drive... let me tell you if you can work a mouse, you can work I-Drive. It took me only 10 mins to understand where everything was. My voice recogn works fine. No problem. Without even reading a manual, I was able to work the voice recogn. Just use what comes to your thought and most likely it will understand. With combination of I-Drive and voice recogn. you will be able to execute all commands without ever leaving your eyes off the road.

HUD: coolest gadget I thought at first, but it really comes handly. Very useful if you have the Nav. Highly recommended.

Spoiler:

When I picked up my car, the spoiler was not ready. Going back Monday to have it put on.

Adaptive Xenon headlights: Very cool. Love the way it steers.

I will post some pictures once I put the spoiler on. So far, everything works just fine. I did ask the dealer what software version this car has.. but they said something like 34 .. so I know he didnt know what he was talking about... I think. He keep saying I have the latest.

One happy owner!!.

tekor,

Very happy for you. Looking forward to seeing some pics!

jonboy,

You're not alone. Still many of us suffering from BMWitis! (and the only cure is a large dose of leather, new car smell, and a touch of iDrive).

Congrats and post those pictures right away. Have fun driving the Ultimate Driving Machine. Enjoy and drive safely. Wish I have the HUD, wasn't available when I ordered mine .

Jonboy,

Thanks everyone, car feels great!!

Here goes some pics... its not great but i'll post some more once the rear spoiler is put on. 545i feels different from 330i. Both cars a great, but in terms of power, 545i feels more powerful.. it just pulls. It's a different car..

tekor,

Great looking car!

Perhaps you could take some HUD "in action" pictures?
