Well, It should be downshifted to 2nd gear.. my guess is your software problem.. sort it out with your dealer before you put on more miles on the car.. Gd luck..

Interesting. Mine is 545 sport 05 and is showing 3 at stop. But since it's not a true manual or SMG it doesn't really matter, it will downshift to 2 or 1 if you step on the throttle more aggressively. Mine will also upshift before red line in the manual mode if the gas is not to the floor.
I would prefer it to bounce of the rev limiter. I think Dinan makes this upgrade. Anohther bummer is it doesn't match the revs on downshifting (like infinity or aston martin's auto). So you have a transmission shock if you downshift and step on it.
But I found out that you can heel and tow in the BMW automatic. Whn breaking roll your foot, blip the throtttle, downshift and off you go - works great

is it safe to move from auto mode to steptronic mode at a moving speed above 10mph? and vise versa?
