It should not have vibration. Apart from the vibration that each and every part of the car has if the engine is running. It should not be obvious when you drive. Just by comparison: the stick has some vibration that you can feel and notice each time you change gear.

It would help us to help you if we knew where you are located and what year/spec your car is.

I drive a EU-spec 530d, and have no vibrations at all from the wheel. Can you be more specific in relation to when you get the vibration? It could be as simple as bad wheel balancing or something more serious depending on when/how you feel it.

It's not normal. You may feel the engine when touching the manual transmission, but definitely not when holding the steering wheel.
You may want to have your engine checked for abnormal vibrations.

This should be a minor problem and it happens to every car after a certain mileage depending on the condition of the road that the car is used at. if you feel the vibration at stand still, try checking the engine and the gear box supports. these are like shock absorbers that hold the engine or the gearbox.... and if the vibrations start when the car is going at a certain speed then you might need to do some wheel alighnment or change your tires
