Default Steering Sensor Issue: Have you seen this before?

Replaced my bad steering angle sensor (actually steering column switch - 61319115165) with a "lightly" used one. Indie mechanic successfully reprogrammed twice but after he started the car each time it gave an error again and printed this out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: Not sure why it uploaded sideways. Here is the upright version.

Exclamation Steering sensor error

YUP - the old steering angle sensor out of spec. Your used replacement was out of spec and will produce the same problem - you should get a "new" one. Mine was replaced on my '07 530xi while still in warranty. Unfortunately it's one of those that is a "must do".
