State inspection and emission inspection warnings

Is there a way to reset the state inspection and the emissions inspection warnings? I tried to go about it the same way as resetting the oil and other indicators but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

My Ride: 2008 Carbon Black 550i, Sports, Premium & Cold Weather Packages, Steptronic, HUD, NAV.

Use iDrive and reset. Very easy! You just need to reset the date.

Got it! Thanks. I didn't see that option in there and really didn't expect it to be in the i-drive menu screen.

My Ride: 2007 530 XI, 19 VMR VB3, matte grills, RPI scoop, MTEC V2 Angel Eyes

In my situation the 530xi was originaly purchased and owned in New York. I bought the car in Kansas(second owner) and our state doesn't require a smog inspection. Is my vehicle "programed" for NY and will this have to be reprogramed for Kansas?? Help!
