Dunno... whats "ok" for one person might not be "ok" for another... What I can say is the standard radio for the E46 sucks POS. I cant stand it. Sorry I cant really comment on the 5er as I've forgotten. I just drove a 325 loaner today so I can comment on that.

The E60 standard stereo is about as good as the E39 "premium" stereo. If you are an audiophile, of course get the Logic 7 upgrade. If you listen casually, the standard stereo is more than sufficient. Best thing to do is grab a few of your favorite CDs and listen, both driving and parked. I opted for the standard stereo and think its just fine.

The mid range speakers are 4 inch made in Hungary speakers and the tweeter cover behind the wing mirrors are empty.

However, the standard stereo set up may be used as a platform to install an ICE that way surpasses the Logic 7 (if done by the right people)

Depends what you're after, and your finances - if you've lots of money go for logic 7. If you have to balance money then stereo vs. say adaptive lights --> its a matter of which would you prefer, benefit from the most.

I went for comfort seats rather than logic because I figured - better to be comfortable (& my wife) & to listen to 'OK' music , than t o be unconfirtable listening to geat sound. I viewed logic 7 as a 'luxury' if I had the money, and comfort seats as a necessity.

Of course - other opinions may be different.

FM radio sound isn't too bad, it is CD sound reproduction that is really quite poor IMO

Hope this helps

I think the US standard (pro radio) is fine. I always keep everything flat (treble and bass) and turn off all effects anyway so didn't see the need for L7.

My reasonning when ordering the car was that having a very high quality audio equipment is a non-sense due to the external noices from the road and the outside world which pollute the "pure sound" you could get out of the speakers.

However, if you are a techno/house music-addict, then I suppose the woofer under the seats of the logic 7 will bring a lot to you and the sound wont be polluted by external noices as you will probably put the volume at the max <_<

I made a test as suggested in a previous post and finaly took the in-between solution.

The European standard is no good - go for hifi or logic 7.
I have standard and looking for solutions to get better sound without doing to much modofications to the car.

Does anyone have any experience with an upgrade from standard (european) to hifi? Is it possible to install only the subs in the floor? Is all of the E60s prepered to have the woofers under the seats installed?
