Does anyone have any experience with an upgrade from standard (european) to hifi? Is it possible to install only the subs in the floor? Is all of the E60s prepered to have the woofers under the seats installed?

I remembver a post some time ago that mentioned that mounting aftermarket sub below the front seats is not possible if the car is not factory fitted with them.

Most people who upgrade actually add either a bass tube in the trunk or fit a customised board below the rear panel. Pls refer to Tategoi's album and you will see what I mean.

I'm afraid not. You'll have to get a new car with L7. But fret not. There are quite a few aftermarket options out there which are much better than the L7. Its just what you're willing to invest.

In Italy, but I think in Europe too, there are 3 choices:

standard stereo (I had on my old E60 stolen) , quite poor sound both Radio FM both CD

optional Hi-Fi (I think it is standard stereo for US ) : I have now and I'm satisfied

optional logic 7: the best but too expensive IMHO

I would choose the logic 7 no matter what. The sound reproduction is awesome and the bass can go really deep....standard system is pretty shallow IMO...

My wife's car has the hifi system in it and it sounds just fine! I think this is the standard system for you US guys? But the L7 just rocks in my 5! If you have the extra cash go for it!

The standard stereo in the US is not terrible, it is just fine. The audio quality is good-- very clear and small subwoofers under the seats get the job done. I am very happy with it. If you are a real audiophile, you may want the L7. My issue is that we own three cars and i were to pay for premium stereo in all three I would be spending about $5K on car stereos, which is a lot.

That's so true. Too shallow for both base and treble. Compared to my bro-in-law's Lexus ES330 standard sound system, E60 hifi (standard in US) is just a shame.

If you have the bass turned up more than 2/3 of the way on the L7, at low volume it will give you a migrane.

I have standard stereo set up (Europe HiFi) and quite happy with that. Two subs under the front seats sound pretty good. One of my friends has Logic 7 on his X5 4.4i 2004 and it sounds horrible.
