1. Does my car have brakes that tense up if I take my foot off the accelerator abruptly?
2. Do my brakes dry themselves in wet weather?
3. Do my headlights come on if the windshield wipers are in auto mode and detect rain?
4. Does my car have the feature that holds it in place on an incline when I take my foot off the brake and move to the accelerator?

We're in the same boat basically. I'm new to the E60 world having just purchased an 06 530i. While doing my research I found this great site that provides the answers to most of the type questions you are asking. The preformatted links for the 2005 525i are below:
Standard Features:
http://www.intellichoice.com/reports/vehic...ed/2005/BMW/525
Option Packages:

Specifications (very informative):

Btw, all of these links and more about your specific year/model are in the left column of the web pages. Easy to surf and learn what you need. Hope this helps! GL with your car.

I do not see mention of any of the features I was asking about. I know they are on the 3 series (e90)
and the features usually trickle down form the 7 to the 5 then the 3.
ANYONE?

The only company that I know of that has the first feature is Mercedes. They came out with that around 2000, they call it brake assist. If you begin to press the pedal down faster than normal it will instantly apply full brake force even before the brake pedal is pushed all the way down. This gives almost a full second faster emergency brake response time. I had this feature before and it was nice... we do not have it and I believe we do not have features 3 or 4 either. I think I have driven in the rain with the headlights on auto and put the wipers on auto but noticed the headlights were not on since it was still light outside. Also Mercedes planned to come out with a pre crash system for the S class that would extend the knee bolster out and even the bumpers out before impact to increase the amount of time it takes for your body mass to slow down to zero. I am not sure how much of that system made it to the market, maybe just the active headrests.
