But it was a 2004 model. The 2007 was available in March of 2006 but its a 2007.

The model year range of the E 60 is 2004 through 2007+

I don't care if the care was available Jan 1 2003. It was a 2004 model.
Agreed. I had one of the first production cars in the state. Built 09/03, delivery 10/03 - model year 2004.

03 = MY 03 !!!

The launch in the US was later. You didn't get any MY03's in the US, but there was a MY03. The actual launch should have been even earlier, but due to problems the launch in Germany was pushed back.

Then why does bimmerfest and this site specifically state the E 60 began in 2004 and the E 39 ended in 2003?

This is not a US issue. I would ask if anyone on this site has a 2003 (as verified by the VIN) E 60?

Anywhere in the world?

Thanks,

Now I am interested if anyone knows who has a 2003 E 60. Vin Verified.

Maybe BMW actually made two models in the same model year.

The Germans take 5 weeks of vacation every year starting at the end of July. Then the factory starts up again in September. So US model year 2004 began production in Sept. 2003. I believe most manufacturers "cheat" on the model year in the US. I could have bought a "2007" Chevy Tahoe for a while already.

And I bought a MY2007 built in March 06. Not the point.

So why is this article talking about a "major" facelift in 2009 model year? What you are saying is what I had understood up to this point.
Yes there will be a major redesign for the 5 series in 2009 as a 2010 model for Europe. remember that the 5 series first comes out in Europe and then a year later in the USA. so yes it is true it will come out in 2009 as a 2010 for Europe and then in 2010 it will come out in the USA as a 2011 model.
