I like the Sport seat because the thigh support can be adjusted to improve circulation or for support, depending on the situation.

Hello All,

Just want to thank everyone for their personal and professional comments regarding my "initiating thread - Sports package or not?" It really helped my wife and I fully evaluate our collective purchase. I ordered "her" today and we are looking at an early Dec 04 delivery in Vicenza, Italy. Here it goes:

2005 BMW 530i
Titanium Gray Ext.
Black Dakota Leather
Poplar Grain Wood
6-speed Steptronic

Packages/Options:
Cold Wx
Premium
Premium Sound w/6-pack
Active Steering
Rear-Side Airbags
Heated Rear Seats
Fold Down Seats
PDC
Xenon Adaptive lights
Navigation System
Comfort Seats
HUD
Satellite Radio Prep

As you can see, we essentially reached a compromise. We didn't select the Sports package for most of the reasons that were already listed above. Additionally, enough of you convinced us of the necessity to add AS. Much prefer the comfort seats to the sports seats (i.e., paid extra last time to swap out sports seat with comfort seats in our 528ia Sport...). This time, no such additional charge...but, no ARS or 18"'s either.

We also spend the last 24-48 hrs debating among ourselves (oh, and by the way also reading past threads) interior leather and trim colors. In the end, we decided to stay with natural wood because it has a "warm" and "elegant" feeling (versus the much "cooler" feel of titanium silver...although, it does look fantastic/sporty, especially when combined with gray leather). Also, it didn't hurt that BMW is adding additional space for wood trim in the 2005 lineup (i.e., under the a/c in lieu of the storage bin). Anyways, thanks again everyone and hopefully I be able to post some pics before Xmas. Ciao!

Therefore, I like this forum a lot. I log on at least twice a day to see good comments and opinions. Not bashing each other.
Compared to Edmunds, Bimmerfest, Roadfly, E60fanatic, this is the best. Each of us doing good job here. Keep it up guys.

Those are good specs, Mahoney. My compliments to you and your wife. Although you did not opt for Sport package, you got the best component which is the Activge Steering. Keep us posted on the order and have the digital ready when y'all pick it up.

I think the best part of the sports package is the ARS and the 18s. The car will look much better and corner quite flat, so I think you should really reconsider these options.

If money is an issue, I'd get rid of the fold down seats, PDC and the premium package (if it doesn't include comfort seats) in favor of the 18s and ARS.

Unfortunately, I can't order the Dynamic Drive (i.e. ARS) as a separate option at this time w/o the Sports Package.

Oops, I didn't see this, so I guess nevermind. I thought all the options could be ordered seperately in Europe.
