+1 for the Sports Pack.

My last car was just an (E46) SE, was mushy as hell and rolled like a boat, even on the track the Sports pack without active roll system is pretty refined when pushed hard, see this pic, cornering right on the limit with very little roll.

Same corner same track, my old E46 with a KW V3 coilover kit at full stiff and min height vs my E60 on stock sports pack, the KW's were uber stiff and quite hard on the road where my E60 is firm without being over hard now I lost my run flats

Just a couple of other shots on the same track to compare extremes.........

Thats it, I'm going track'n

Is the retrofit anywhere near the quality of the factory shadowline? or is it peel on or put on and wait for it to peel or fall off?
The shadowline trim is from BMW...OEM replacement. Tape just shouldn't be called shadowline

So as I contemplate getting springs for my non-sport 530i, which springs would most closely provide the drop/feel of the stock sport package?

Buy a Lexus if you don't order the Sports Package. SP = BMW. Non-SP = Non-BMW.
I would not say it's as bad as a Lexus without SP. Lexus' suck in turns. I did have SP in my X5 and it was a more stable ride than my 525 w/o SP but still better than the wannabe BMW's(Lexus, Inifinity, Hyundai)

I've had to put h&r springs and gas shocks on every car i've ever owned except for my e60. BMWs extensive use of the nurburging has paid off with the perfect sport suspension. I'd have to argue that it handles as well if not better then my spec e30 car.

They are miglia 1000+ 17inch rims with 245 up front and 255 at the rear, not sure on the exact model number, quite rare rims tho.....from my E34 525i Sport, didnt wanna ruin my 18inch MV's with the run flats on the track, my 19's coming next week im told

Even with the heavier diesel engine up front the chassis on track ( and road ) is excellent, stable, chuckable, and more important predictable, gentle hint of understeer if you go crazy followed by as much oversteer as you want by pressing the throttle harder, just needs a LSD to finish the job off properly, a good reason why I still have my E34 sport in fact

Good Evening,

The lease on my 07 530i expires in October andI have begun the plans for my next 5. Question is do you feel the sports package is a must? My current vehicle does not have it and I think it handles great, yet I have always some what regreted not getting it after talking to others. For those that have it can you tell me your thoughts, why it is so great, how the firm is the ride etc.

Thanks

Yes Sport Package is better in my life style.

it is factory oem shadowline....there are a few diy's on how to even swap it out yourself...just have to order the shadowline trim pieces from your bmw dealer...
