Your key is saving the position automatically when you lock the car... Maybe your steering wheel is UP allready, so it doesn't move...

Another issue is that the seats/wheel/mirrors don't remember their settings from one key to another. I am hopeful that CIP 12.x solves the problem.

How does one get the steering wheel to move up upon key removal. Mine hasn't done that. But I haven't yet programmed the keys to any memory function if that would be required.
As far as moving the seat back after turning off the car, I set the iDrive to remember the last seat positon. That seemed to help since I'm taller than my wife.
I haven't checked it since the last upgrade. The upgraded reset some of my presets.

My Ride: 2010 550i M Sport Package - Alpine White/Blk Nasca Leather, Premium hi-fi system, Sat Radio, Nav, Cold Weather Package, Value Package, Shift Paddles, Comfort Access keyless entry, Power rear Sunshade, Front Ventilated seats, Split fold-down rear seats, Heated rear seats, Automatic high beams
From the USA manual:
Easy entry/exit*
The backrest width automatically moves as
high up and far forward as possible to ease
driver entry and exit before then returning
to the standard or stored memory setting.
This automatic feature is governed by the
driver's door and the ignition lock.
stupid question: What does BMW consider to be the backrest?
and why would it move forward and up as far possible for easy exit/entry.
I would think you would want the reverse for easy exit/entry.
All MB I been in move the seat down and back as far as possible for easy entry/exit including steering wheel up.
I weight 170 so it's not a big deal but it's a cool feature.

Hey Iceman,
The manual for USA says it does, but there is a little * next to the feature.
I have the sport seats. Maybe it's only available with comfort seat.
Thanks

Mercy, not a dumb question. I have the manual in front of me and the Easy entry/exit* section does explain how "the backrest width moves as high up and forward as possible...", but this pertains only to the Comfort Seat as the backrest width adjutment is not available on the sport seats. Therefore those of us who did not get the Comfort seats don't have the Easy entry/exit capability.

This is an option that comes with sport seats also. There is not backrest to move but, the seat moves back and the steering wheel moves up when the key is removed. This is standard on us spec E60. The memory for the individual keys must be setup in the I-Drive.

spec33,
I guess you have it working on yours.
So a follow up dummer question. How do you go about setting up the memory for the individual keys in I-Drive.
I thought you just used the keys and all is well. I have not seen how you pair up a key to memory setting in I-Drive. Please Help!
