My Ride: 2005 545i Titanium Silver/Black/Poplar: Steptronic, Sport, Cold Weather, Premium Sound, Comfort Seats, Sat Radio, NAV & Shades

Thanks for the help guys. I am only leasing the car so I am not about to invest in a second set of rims and tires for winter. I want a good all around alternative to the run flats. They are just awfully expensive. Luckily I am self employed so when it snows real hard I just work from home so my snow driving is limited. I will check tire rack. Thanks!!

If you're in Rhode Island and you'll be using these tires through the winter, I'd consider:

Pirelli PZero Nero M+S

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

From what I see on tire rack and reading reviews, it appears that Pirelli is a good tire and a great price too. I may try those!!

Thinking of a non-runflat alternative. Can anyone recommend a good non runflat tire?

Thanks

Many get PS2s. Light, quiet, ride well, extremely high performer.

hey das,

I read your comment about the PZero Nero M+S. I did some research and read many good stuff about those tires. I am glad that some body here agree that sometimes all season tires works well for both light snow and rain. ( i have all seasons and they did well during winter..no complaints)

I think those Pzero will be the candidate to replace the one that will come wth my car. I need all season where I live. (New York).

Thanks for that information. ( I know the append is old..i just saw it )

Pirelli PZERO NERO M+S
P245/45ZR17 95W BK 400AA SL

Web-Price Tires (Qty: 4) $548.00
Stocking and Installation fee $91.96
High-Speed Balancing and Valve $39.96
Total $679.92

i found Pirelli PZero Nero M+S to be very good tires on my 545 smg sport, actually better grip-they are harder to spin on dry and wet road than Dunlops, much better ride, very quiet(my Dunlops very not noisy anyway),no problem with balancing at my nearest "generic" tire shop, and cornering ability just as good as Run Flats.Yet they come at a 30-40% discount compared to other leading brands! I have yet to find how they behave on snow-but judging from what i've read-i am looking forward to winter!

The the size of the tires of my upcoming E60 is 245/45/17. Can I play with that configuration? Say:
255/45/17? I think 45 is fine..lower than 45 can be to harsh or not so good for the rimms?

i am not really sure if you can go from 245 to 255 without changing rims-i did not change width of my setup, but you can certainly play with 45 number here, i am sure somebody will answer your question more precisely.
