Well as the title says, I spilled soda all over the center console last week  . I cleaned it up instantly and everything is fine, however the idrive knob is very stiff on cold mornings but losens up and gets its 'snap' back the warmer it gets lol. Does it just pop off so I can clean all the junk out of it? Im sure Im not the only one who has done this lol.

The Idrive knob pops right off. Just pull up.
Don't know how messy things got but you might want to take out and clean the shifter and center console trim... There's a couple of DIY's on the forum.

Do this at your own risk
Open the door and pull the knob off.
Wait ten minutes for the computer to shut down. Do not open, close doors, or in anyway get the computer to start up. Or just disconnect the battery.
Hose down the switch with Windex to dilute and clean out the syrup, then blow out with compressed air or canned air. Let dry completely. If you can pull the switch out and do this, even better
Check to see it does not stick, repeat as nec.
Do not put power to the system until completely dry

haha seriously its an insult to call them cup holders.. in my previous car (accord) i would always bring a cup of coffee with me on my morning commute. after a few very scary moments taking corners in my e60 with my travel mug going flying (small drops of coffee, no major spill thankfully) and i've learned to do without coffee until i get to work.. maybe it's not a bad thing..

Lmao, poor choice of words I guess.
Ill be doing this as soon as I get time.
Yep, can of Dr. Pepper in the cup holder, I was backing out of the garage, put the drink in the cup holder and apparantly the bottom support hadnt been fully extended so the can wasnt all the way down in the holder. It was actually sitting at a perfect angle to spill out. So as soon as I let the clutch out to go up the street (which is an upward hill) the whole can nearly poured all over the console! FML. I gotta admit, I was a little hungover from the night before. Had I been in a 'normal' state Im sure I would have noticed the can wasnt secure. I was thrilled.
