If the Magellan confirms that your BMW speedometer is ~ accurate, you may be able to have it replaced by a Dealer for one that is 3-4mph higher. The Ultimate Driving Machine, don't forget!
Let us know what it says,
Cal
Let us know what it says,
Cal
Then I read the DD?s linked article.
Finally I agree with Cal that it is much to do about nothing. I don?t think I will ever get a citation because of my speedo error.

My speedometer is off for sure!!!
When I first got my car, I got over 5 speeding tickets in a matter of a couple of weeks simply by being 1-2 kph over the 'triggered threshold'.
The downtown speed is set at 50 kph with the cameras' threshold set at anything over 60 kph.... Well, I got all five tickets for being 1 to 3 kph over. But I swear, and am very sure of this, I went a maximum of 59 kph!!
Most people drive in the fifties just under the sixty to avoid the cameras but with my BMW, I can't relie on the readings... hehehe

Check Miles, Fuel Mileage, Speed
Made two day trip to Dayton, OH from Atlanta area and return. Outbound saw rain the entire trip. The return saw rain approximately 50% of the time.
I normally set Active Cruise at 80 MPH. Entire trip was on I75, except for maybe 4 miles off the big road.
I considered the accurate data to be from a Hand Held Magellan GPS, and for fuel: gas pumped.
Overall distance GPS was 1055.2 Miles, the ODO clocked 1061.8 Miles. This is a 6.6 mile error or .63%.
Real time road speed was difficult because the GPS readout was erratic. With the cruise set at 80, I saw anywhere from 77.6 to 79.2 on the GPS. My best eyeball average GPS was 78.4 mph. This is a 1.6 mph error or 2.0%
Fuel efficiency: Driving 1055.2 miles I used 48.3 gallons pumped. This is 21.8 mpg. The Bimmer told me it was 23.0. Error is 1.2 mpg or 5.4%
This seems to jibe with what most of the folks on the forum see.
