Help me out here. This is my first post on the board so bear with me. I purchased a CPO-Certified 2010 E61 last week. Being a newb I started to read all the manuals. The services manual says that for the 535 engine, the spark plugs should be changed at 45k regardless of the CBS. The service manager tells me that the CBS says the plugs still have 9000 miles--conveniently outside the factory maintenance plan.

Have anyone breached this issue before? What was the outcome? TIA.

 

The N54 engine requires new spark plugs every 45,000 miles. CBS does not apply. Let the SM show you where it reads that 9,000 miles are remaining. Total BS.

 

After the service manager had an extensive discussion with the "warranty manager", they agreed to put in the plugs under factory maintenance.

 

Glad to hear it worked out in your favor, dealer tries to screw over the customer any chance they get.

 

I am having the same issue. Even though it is listed in the warranty/maintenance manual as "NOT IN CBS", they showed me a printoff saying it is due at the next check in 11K miles. Currently at 45,800, so that will be convieniently at 56K out of warranty and CPO won't cover that.
Thoughts? What else can I do?

 

Call 2nd dealer in town -- they would replace plugs at 45k no questions asked.
Called my dealer back with that info. They found "a bulletin" they can refer to and get them covered.
Guessing this is what they are referring to as others have posted on forums
(sib 00 01 07 2008).

 

Mine were replaced at 48K mile as part of my 50K mile service by the dealer. I would start using the "2nd dealer in town" from now on out.

 

They shouldn't need to refer to a bulletin if it's already in the owner's manual.

Mine were replaced at ~50 k at the last service check. I have 85 k now and will be looking to change them out soon. I've noticed of the past month or so that in the mornings and after work when I start the car and drive, I get a slight misfire here and there. I'm not sure if this is from the plugs or the direct fuel injection and I need a blast job! I will probably be doing one of those in the near future as well.
