Actually the center hub bore is the same as in E60, which is 72,6mm.
According to RealOEM the offsets of a E28 wheels are near the E60, but the wheels are much narrower. That doesn't matter though, as we are talking about the spare wheel. The biggest problem might be finding at least 16" steel wheel, because the brakes of the E60 won't fit inside a smaller wheel. There might be even differencies in inside clearance between different 16" wheels, so stay sharp.

You can buy a space-save spare wheel from the dealer for $100, which is probably the same cost as a 120 mile trip when you weigh-up the time, fuel and hastle factor.
If you are outside the US, there are three spare wheel option:
(1) spare wheel with tyre ($100)
(2) Spare wheel tyre, jack and wheel brace ($150)
(3) All the above plus a trunk liner (for e61) $180
Personally I would go for option (1)because you probably won't get the flat off with the wheel-brace as it's probably corroded onto the hub, therefore breakdown assistance will fit the wheel.
Again, personally, I would not take a trip without a spare. Run-flat's don't offer any additional protection than a standard tyre except maybe another 10 miles of slow driving to get off the road at nearest junction, then they dissintegrate.
