SPARE TIRE QUESTION???????

Hopefully someone can help me with this one.
I have a 2006 530i with standard 17" OEM wheels. I am planning on getting either 19s or 20s for the ride.
My question is.... Do I need to get 4 wheels or 5 wheels? The spare in my trunk right now is just a standard tire that can be used with the other 17s. If I upgrade in size can I still use that spare in case of emergency? IF not...does that mean I have to freaking buy a extra 19" or 20" rim + tire to act as my spare? I do not have runflats if that makes any difference.
Am i stupid here or is this a legitimate question? For all the OEM and aftermarket 19" and 20" inch people here, what did you do? If it is the case that the original spare will not work in a wheel size change, what did most of you do?
For some reason I am very unlucky with flat tires and use the spare probably once a year.
So my concern is for my safety.
Thanks!!!!!

No extra wheel/tire required. It probably would not fit in the trunk anyway.
The idea of a spare is for use in an emergency. It will still work fine if it is a little smaller. The idea is to limp along to the repair place and fix the flat. The idea is not to head out to highway to test how well your car handles. Many years ago, the spare was the same size as the regular wheel. Not today.
Yes, your car will not feel great when you are using the spare, but the idea is to prevent damage and allow you to get help.
I hope this helps.
