there are lots of bmw 5 stud spare wheels on ebay, does anyone know what size i need , and will it go in the boot ok

The E60 one is 135/80R17.

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed

and from BMW it comes within a polystyrene moulding also containing jack and brace.
The complete moulding pack sinks in the well

The difference is negligible... But it you did need to use I'd take extra care!

Does anyone know if a normal size (~225-17) tire will fit in the well after removing the space saver and the polystyrene? If it does, I'm going to buy a lone aluminum rim and "real" tire after I lose my RFTs... Anyone try this?

I not sure that'll work....from memory, the space there will not allow it.

You might want to take a look at some of the answers in this recent thread: Full Sized wheel to be used as a spare, How to make it fit

Although the E60 spare wheel well is quite deep, BMW have used some of the space in the bottom to locate some of the car's on-board electronics. I don't think a full-size wheel will fit, but please let us know if you try...
