I don't know the rules for this, as I HAVE NO TIES TO THIS CAR. If this is frowned upon, please delete. However, it's incredibly rare and not a terrible price (even with the salvage rebuilt title). I know there are people looking for manual wagons, this is a good color (space gray over black dakota leather) with most of the options you'd want, and the last year of production with decent miles. The last seven of the VIN are CW98318.

Sellers name is Ed, he has before pictures of the front passenger side damage.

Title says it's rebuilt. Is that a euphemism for "salvage"?

No, it means that it was salvage, but then was rebuilt - there is a difference. Sometimes it's a theft recovery after the insurance company has written it off, sometimes it's just damage that someone doesn't want to have fixed, sometimes it's more than 50% of the value of the car (per dealer prices).

Because of the high cost of parts and dealer service, rebuilt branded titles are very common on older, high end cars (I've owned several, including a 7-series and a Jaguar XK8 - as well as several motorcycles), and represents a great value if you don't need to finance and you have the cash to self-insure. Realistically speaking - if this were a clean title, manual transmission 2010 535i wagon with similar miles and options, it could easily sell for $25K (IMO). It's always risk vs. reward; but if you are really into minimizing risk, you can always pick up a new Camry or Accord.

This particular seller has pictures from before (passenger front damage). Obviously, if you were interested, I would suggest inspecting the bodywork closely and have the car checked out by a good BMW independent mechanic.

Salvage to Rebuilt will still affect the resale value of the car, no?

Absolutely - typically about 40% less than the true value (but that works FOR you on purchase and AGAINST you when you sell it). It usually makes the most sense on a car that is hard to find, although I had a friend buy a 135i (manual, m-sport) that was a theft recovery - and it's been a great purchase for him thus far.
