Sound system turns by itself

My car is in the shop and they gave me a 525 loaner. On this car the sound system stays off when turned off and the RDS feature works as well. Is this because this car does not have NAV? If not why can't they get this working on other cars with this problem. I'll definitely ask when I return the loaner.
