Default SOS phone

okay so i've noticed latly my radio keep cutting out...thought weird wonder why it's doing it. looked around couldn't find anything wrong. so took a trip this past weekend and i noticed when the radio cut out i notice the green light next to the SOS button lite up. thought it was wierd. (this happend every 30 seconds or so) so i put it on the phone screen and watched, so it cut radio off again and then led lit up again, radio back on and the a screen popped up and said "no on board phone detected" and screen went away..... how the heck can i get it to stop doing that!!!! driving me nuts

I've never experienced this issue before but I would tend to think that something is activating the SOS function intermittently, the question is whether that is a module, your Bluetooth connection or maybe even a lose wire somewhere. My understanding is that the SOS function is kind of like OnStar in that it needs a cellular connection to work so when it's muting your radio it thinks its making a call. IS your phone paired to your car currently? If you just bought the car or haven't ever done this I would go through the list of paired phones and delete any old phones and maybe even try deleting yours and then re-pairing. I'm just reaching here but I think it would be a good place to start...

Not sure what the green light is. Could be your car is trying to contact BMW SOS service and muting the radio. Try manually pushing the SOS button and see if you get similar green light behavior.
