Hello,
i ran into the sound system failure. Stereo system would play ok for 10-15 minutes, and then all of the sudden massive static would kick in! i did a little research and found out that it is SOS system that is malfunction. I disconnected it and it works fine, however it throws SOS failure notice on Idrive. which is pretty annoying... Again i did a little research and found out that i need to reconnect my SOS system back, but bypass the sound part.(sorry if my terminology is in proper) I got a jumper from the dealer, installed it, BUUUT SOS failure still shows up on the screen. Bummer... Any thoughts?

P.S. I tried disconecting the battery for few hours, hoping that would help, but no!

TCU probably needs replacing.

After replacement does it need to be reprogrammed?

My understanding is yes. My TCU crapped out and took out my bluetooth. I did the search and looks like it'll be around $800 or more at the dealership, so been sitting on it. In the meantime, got myself one of those bluetooth car speaker from Motorola that's been performing well.

i want to try swapping the unit with my friends TCU. He has the same car, although the year is different. Mine is 2004 he's is 2007.
