So I go to make a call on my iPhone 3GS that is connected to my E60 via bluetooth and nothing happens. The car will not recognize the phone at all, I even tried to make a call via BMW assist and it didn't work either. Then I hear the dreaded ding and I see the iDrive warning in the pics below. Well I just stopped turned off the car and let it sit for a minute when I restarted it the warning was gone and my phone has worked fine since. Weird huh?! Has anyone every seen this??

I actually have the same problem from time to time. Only difference is my I-drive doesn't work when this happens as well. Apparently, from my research of those with similar problems, its the SOS module that is malfunctioning.

EDIT: Mine also goes away after the car goes to sleep, so its an electric gremlin in the module I think.

I am bringing my car to the dealer Monday to have this addressed. I will report back with what they say and do.

I get it too randomly. When it does do it....it's always when i first start the car, i-drive doesn't boot up for about 10-15 mins, then all of a sudden the BMW screen comes on then everything boots up and is fine from there. Dealer says it's the SOS module crapping out. They said they could bypass the system....but I think i'll wait till it completely takes a dump....right now it will do it maybe once every 3 weeks or so.....in any case, sounds like a pretty common problem

I found out what was causing SOS call system malfunction, bluetooth didn't work and this weird static noise from speakers when listening to music it was
Inline-connector for optical fibre cable 61136918277 located in the trunk, I put on hot glue so it wont move & the problem is gone here is picture of it

I have had this happen a few time, the last this week. It corrects itself when you restart the car.
