Quick question...Even though the car is still under BMW warranty, would it still be a wise choice to do a PPI on the car prior to purchase?

you have a tough choice to make. I would go with the E60 550i as it is a newer car. Also, BMW M-power cars can be expensive to maintain. However, I do think that the E39 is pretty durable. I would check on the m5board.com and do some research on the E39.

Great choices ! and welcome to the forum. I would definetly shop around for a lower price 550. Like mentioned before there will definetly be better priced 550's with sport package out there. IMO a must have ! As far as the M5 well , they are few and far between as time goes by. Be smart ask questions on this forum, thers a bunch of good people here. Keep us updated .

I'd go for the newer model...but the guy that did my suspension recently has the E39 M5 in black and it is super clean and looks awesome!
