Don't feel bad, it happened to me twice in the same week. The part that sucks is the second one was right after I picked up the car from the body shop.

was sitting at a traffic light and some dumba** in a Nissan Xterra drops the clutch and bang!

I'm like WTF, and his response is "my foot slipped off the clutch!" to which I responded, "if you were'nt so fu**ing close to me it would not have mattered!"

I can't believe this happened....got an estimate on the way home and the whole bumper (M aero kit) has to be replaced and also the trunk (boot) behind the license plate is creased! A total of about $1,400 in damage....it's the hassle that really pisses me off....at the time he is like "please don't file a claim with my insurance company" so when I called him this afternoon, I said, "$1,400 with your insurance company or $1,700 in cash!".....needless to say I filed a claim...I am so pissed

Just venting in the hood......

Cheers,

Sorry to hear about that. Something everyone will likley experience and has to worry about.

That said, its probably better the damage was in the rear and your car's color is dark for better paint matching. Modern cars ought to be cheaper to fix, as $1,400 is alot for a clutch slip and the resultant bang. Almost 5% value of the car.

I was stopped at a freeway offramp red light, 4th car in line to go... some *@!# with expired license driving a dealer car opted to yell at her kids rather than stop for the red light. Plowed into me (totalled) and plenty of damage for the three cars in front of me... at least no one was hurt in your case or my case.

I hope your repairs go well and the car drives like new again.

That sucks.

But..... if you are going to be in an accident.... getting rear ended at a stop light is the best way to go. You were not moving, and so no chance you can have any fault.

Bokke, sorry to hear about that, I know we all fear this kind of thing with all the idiots on the road. Make sure you get the body work done where YOU want it done, the other guys insurance company might try to send you to some cut rate body shop where THEY get a discount. Make sure you get a body shop that does a lot of BMW and high end imports. I wonder if you can get a BMW approved body shop so as not to void your warranty? Just a thought. Good Luck.
You should insist on nothing BUT a BMW repair center - not just one approved by BMW so you get the right parts and service, AND also ensure they pay you for a rental car while you're out of your ride.

Unfortunate incident. Post the results when all's said and done and good luck. I hope you called the cops and made a full police report. No mercy - no breaks, no consideration, no slack. Do it right BY YOU.

Regards

of course this is nice in the movies and in da hood but the reality, when I was rear-end by a taxi here I wanted his heart like Arnold in T1 but when I saw the poor guy appologising and willing to fill in all damn form for the accident was 100% all his fault...I said ok, insurrance will pay, so damn car was 3 months new, and ok no hard feeling, but could cry for my car.

No need for violance, but agree some basta*ds wud worth, yeah but sorry that is nice in imagination, but not our way of handling cases...so no need to be agressive
