However, on our wonderful, pot hole free Florida roads the RFs are great. Now at 26000 miles, with plenty tread left and still quiet and grippy. No complaints here. But again I think it has to do with the roads. Bridgestone Protenzas

Same here. Three trips up to the Smoky Mountains, and another to Philly and back. Oh yeah, and ED miles in Swiss Alps and windy Tuscan roads. So my driving has not been all flat, straight, Florida driving. 20,000+ miles in six months of driving and my guess is that there are at least K miles of tread left. Bridgestone Protenzas.

It seems that from all the negative comments about RFs that I should be glad that my new 2007 530i does not come with the RFs. New 2007s are fitted with ContiTouringContacts and a compact spare.

I am about to drive on the worst lenth of highway known to man. I-78 East bound from NJ to Harriburg, PA is by far the s**tiest road I can find. I will give a report on how is goes.
Hey nickolas....I drove that stretch a couple of weeks ago and had 2 flat tire warnings. (no actual flats) I also had to have new fillings in my teeth after the old ones were shaken out!! Saddle up cowboy, it's going to be a long bumpy ride.

Really? Surely BMW won't back down after all their hype?

Conti Touring Contacts are news to me. I just received my 2007 530i a couple of weeks ago and it has Bridgestone Potenzas and a compact spare.

Did I miss an announcement?

Well, Jmach doesn't have a signature so we don't know what his car has for options, but if he didn't get the sport pack, he wouldn't get RFs, and the Contis would make sense.....right?

Funny yesterday I saw a nail high in the sidewall of my RFTs.
Car has 7xx mi on it. My town is approx 1M+ peeps and the only place that would touch RFTs was, ta-da, the BMW dealer New RFT installed within an hour to the tune of $390. - UGH.

This week I am heading to the SC beaches, then in three weeks the trek to York, ME to vacation with my outlaws (I-77, I-81, I-84, I-90, I-95 ~ 1050 mi) and I am a little nervous...

Right, but his post said that Contis replace the runflats for '07. Since runflats only ship with Sports Packages I assumed that's what he meant. Care to clarify, jmach?

colejl,

Yep, it would be big news if BMW suddenly abandoned runflats three months into delivery of its '07 models.
