I recently had my TCU upgraded as per the recall and also had an AUX input installed for my ipod. Once of the new changes, I guess because of the software upgrade is 30 seconds before each hour I get 4 beeps from the car. Its almost like my own person alarm clock.

Now I don't what version of software I received, but I have noticed some slight differences occurring in the car.

The hourly chime is programable in the iDrive if you want it back. I dont remember exactlly where but its there. And as for differences yes. BMW updated the icons and a little of the user interface since you got the car... it was sometime in 2006. I want to say when the 3D birds eye NAV system display came out.

You probably are upgraded to version 25. You can switch off the 4 beeps before each hour if you find it annoying. It exist on older versions too. An option you can adjust in the I drive menu.
