I'm currently using CIP V. 16.1 and recently had some bugs in my iDrive system (blacked out in the middle of driving, split screen etc.), do you recommend upgrading to software 18.xx or higher ? what CIP is available at the moment and are there any benefits ?

18 is pretty stable, but can't comment on 19 until late this week, early next week!
I did find out that with 19.01, MPG is supposed to be increased by 5 MPG, so 23 city is expected on the 545i. OK, just kidding!

Also a noise from the Active Steering when car is unlocked.
