Hello,
Does anyone know if the E60 can get the new sofware update that allows you to search for POIs in the Navigation? I saw this video on YouTube where a new E9x has this update.
I recently purchased a used 2005 545i and I love the car but the Nav is a definite weak point. My $200 Garmin is far easier to use and allows you to load POIs and search POIs by name.
My car seems to have a few software bugs e.g. passenger window anti trap engages occasionally when rolling up, trunk won't open with the key fob, random 4 beeps when diving with no info message. I'm still under warranty and I'm hoping these bugs will be enough for the dealer to update my software and maybe get the Nav POI search update with it.
Thanks for any insight on that,
Scott

if you still have the brownish nav screen, then you have version prior to v25. all the subsequent versions have the grey screen and poi search

that feature is still lacking.
BMW need a generican POI name search.
in other words, you need to be able to search for a name of a place from the begining.
I dont always no what submenu the place I want is under. makes it a pita .
I hope they recitfy that.

Great info everyone, thanks!
Any thoughts on if the dealer will resist giving me the software update as a free warranty job? I read somewhere that the dealers are reluctant to do the updates because it takes a few hours. I'm hoping my reasons above (antri trap error, key fob trunk release not working and random beeps) are good justification for a warranty soft update.
Thanks again!

You can't search by name without selecting a category first and you can't do cool things like search by phone number, etc.

The beeps that you hear may be the hour change signal.
