I don't mind not having soft close doors, but I do wish e60's came with a soft close (push button) trunk.

I'm just the messenger (don't shoot me). Of course I realize we don't have soft close on our current E60s, but I found it interesting that this BMW site...
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/technol..._automatic.html
...says it should at least be an option.

(I was at my local BMW dealer the other day and saw an older lady taking delivery of her new 7. I must say, seeing the soft close function was pretty darned impressive. But who wants an option that appeals to older ladies?? )
That site has a link to a newer catalog and does indicate the soft close as an option ... not sure if a US option.

Thats just Bullsh!t
We Americans are known to be some of the laziest people in the world. Why would BMW not think we would want this option?
I would also like a soft-close center console and glovebox please. Per hapse a soft-close ashtray will be available in the F10.

That site is not the official site for the US market. Soft close is clearly an option for the E60 in other markets but not the US for some reason...

Litigation threat if someone gets their butt cheek nipped as it closes?

Isn't there something about US owners not getting auto closing windows when the car is locked, or am I just getting senile?

If the decision to not offer soft close on the 5 is because of potential litigation threats, then why is it available on the 7 in the US?

My conclusion would be that potential litigation is therefore not the reason. (Or was that a retorical question?)
