bwstone,

i've had this exact same set up for a couple of weeks now. all supplied by r1 concept. pm me if you have any questions.

btw, with the xd/slot rotors, those pads will make your wheels dusty. not like oem but not spotless either.

Soft or spongy brake pedal After changing rotors and pads can be due to air in the system. Did you bleed all four wheels?
+1 Axxis ULT pads should not feel spongy after install. I would bleed all four brakes and I would highly recommend the bedding in process to which GENEaTALS posted a link. GL.

Just a small word of warning. I would not push fluid back up the brake lines when compressing the caliper, you stand a chance of getting dirty fluid into the the ABS needle valves. It is far better to put a small piece of hose onto the bleed nipple and crack it open to let the fluid out. Also you will find it a lot easier!
The same goes for any car with ABS.

Just recently changed a mini discs and pads, and that warning is in the maintn' manual for that car.

what made you go for the ultimate axxis instead of the axxis xbr's semi?
I'm looking to change my pads soon and i'm still debating between those two, but i do not want a soft pedal.
I was looking to cut down on dust as much as possible...pretty sure the softmess of the pedal is due to the fluid level.

If bleeding your brakes does not give you the pedal feel you want, you might try having your dealer bleed the brakes using the ABS pump. I tried bleeding my own after changing to braided brake lines and I was unsuccessful in getting all of the air out. I had a local "high performance" shop bleed them. They had to do it twice, it was much better, but not what I had hoped for. I took it to the dealer and had them do it using the ABS pump and now I am finally happy with the feel.

I tried to avoid the dealer, but in the end, I got what I wanted, and it only cost me $138.00. Your mileage may vary.

good luck,

Dean
