So this BMW drives past me today

Some sort of E60 Diesel not sure of the exact model number. Anyway, some woman is driving and everytime she changed gear it made this noise 'POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' Kind of like a dump valve on a Turbo that goes tttsssshhhhhhhhhhh but this made that random poooooo noise lol. What the hell would it have been? The turbo? Never heard anything like it before. Surely its some kind of a problem?

Most Diesels are auto but you can get manuals. Auto's still change gear!!!
