I agree.. All season's can't handle for crap in icy / snowy conditions.
Winter tires all the way!
As for winter sucking... Some parts it does, but for snowboarding, its awesome!

i drove on all seasons tires in western new york witb a clk55 amg. no problems. just gotta turn that freakin traction control off and go at it. of course i am always sideways. LOL.
In NYC, u gotta have snow tires. People say it's not that bad in NYC. Well, I disagree. Snow's not that bad but how many idiot drivers are there? U need that grip to save urself in a fender bender. Not as many cars in Western NY and Upstate NY. All seasons' fine.

Just came back from an amazing ride in my XI. Man, I feel like a little kid just having fun on his slide. I was cutting across unplowed parking lots and messy side roads like a hot knife through butter. I can't get over how sure footed and stable the x-drive is. This is my first storm ever with the all-wheel drive. Now I understand what the all-wheel drive hoopla is all about, although I must admit that I've never had any trouble with the rear wheeled E36 and E46, but then again, I never tried going through unplowed parking lots with them either. Yeahhhh!! Giddy up, baby!!!!

press the DTC button. It will allow tire spin but still tries to keep the car from sliding out of control.

In short, the traction control won't allow the tires to spin or RPMs to go crazy. If you need to spin the tires to get un-stuck,
press the DTC button. It will allow tire spin but still tries to keep the car from sliding out of control.

Pressing and holding the DTC button will also disable the engine slow-down. You will see two yellow lights on the dashboard when you disable DTC and DSC. The manual describes this process in details.
