I finally got a chance to drive my car in serious snow (3-4 inches). Dunlop M3s performed beautifully. Coming from friends? house last night I had a lot of fun passing SUVs and Audis. It was obvious that RWD with snow tires is much better in snow than 4wd with all-seasons. Today (12+ inches) is a different story though. Looks like snow is too deep for my 545. Will probably go out to check its limits later anyway.
yesterday it was fun here too in Belgium big snow.

Sergey if you get stuck do not worry swicth off all DSC and stuff and then you give full gas it will not dig you in but get out smoothly, happened w me too near a valley. When I used DSC it digged in when it was off-it came out smooth. BMW is RWD

Oh my my!! I took the car out today, the roads are pretty much fully clear, just wet, slushy in many areas. For those who remember my prior thread about abnormal tire wear, my tires are worn down to nothing, it's almost flat rubber and no tread left at all in the rear. Heck, I couldn't even drive through the slush piles without loosing traction and the rear end going out quite a bit. Scarey stuff, especially scarey with other cars around in the lane next door.

Performance summer tires are bad enough in the snow but worn out, almost bare performance summer tires are much worse!! LOL I'll be putting on my winter tires now for the remainder of the winter while I wait for the Style 166 rims + PS2 replacements this spring.

Be careful out there...

For the snow I use 2 things: snow tires and Lexus GX470 (not necessarily in that order)

We had some (relatively speaking) snow in the NoVA area y/day which they cleared the roads out pretty quickly.

This AM, with the temp hovering around 20 F, I stopped on an incline for a red light just behing a Corolla and a Jeep 4WD. So the light turns green and first the Corolla and then the Jeep spun their tires on ice without moving an inch. And I am like...S&*T, me and my RWD.

Finally, I nervously gave the car some careful gas. The DTC lit up but my car moved straight ahead, no problem. I don't know if I got lucky but I was mighty impressed.
