Question Smoke: reinstall the stock cats or replace with a single bigger aftermarket one?

Had some custom exhaust work done which consisted of removing my mufflers and (2) secondary cats and putting on a resonator where the mufflers were (with double tips welded on it).

Getting tons of smoke; I know this means other things need attention, but right now I’m just wanting to drive it without embarrassment. Lol

So, in addition to adding a free flowing muffler BACK into the system (too loud now), should I:

A) Re-install the two (2) OEM BMW cats back where they were on the double 2.25” pipes ahead of the OEM center resonator/“silencer”
(these have about 82,000 miles on them)

OR

B) get one (1) 3” high flow cat that would go after the center silencer and either before or after the new muffler (under the car somewhere before the resonator I just installed)

????

— Also, suggestions on mufflers welcome — I’m thinking about Flowmaster DBX right now. Want to reduce noise volume, not flow, and kill some drone in the 1000-2000 rpm range.

Anything I should know about buying the cats is welcome too. I know there are different levels of technology with them. I’m just starting my research, but need to do something soon.

Thanks as always!

Link to DBX muffler I’m considering:

(After watching their video with a Civic... not so sure!)
