Nope, regular auto but with those nifty paddle shifters and a cooler looking shifter. At least to my knowledge, but I haven't owned an automatic car... well... ever.

what you mean cooler looking shifter? you mean the shift knob correct? cuz I think they are the same on 08 no matter what.

But only the transmission is different if it is SMG and people are saying 08' didn't come SMG so I guess the shift paddles with (sport) mode is just an extra feature taht has no difference when it comes to the transmission of an auto to an SMG one. Thanks guys!

so if the 535 has shift paddles with sport mode button, is the transmission any different than for one that is without those features.

Alright, not to sound short but this will be my last post in this thread. You're asking the same question and getting the right answers from several members. So here it is laid out for you:

BMW E60 has had 3 transmission options:
-Automatic (available for all models)
-6 Speed Manual Transmission (available for all models)
-Sequential Manual Gearbox (available until the end of 2007 models)

The Automatic transmission has the sports option which adds paddle shifters and I believe the sport button. That's it. And to my knowledge the sports button just changes throttle sensitivity. There you have it, 3 transmission options, and the auto has the sports upgrade option. TakmaN out!
