The STS looks promising, but I'd rather have a CTS-V

I'd prefer to have no GM vehicles. I don't care how fast they are.

Too many cheezy toggle switches everywhere in the cabin. Hell, they even have toggle switches to check to see if the other toggle switches are working. I'd rather sit in Jim Kirk's chair on the Starship Enterprise than drive a 1994 Corvette.

I have driven both the M3 SMG and 545is SMG. I took delivery of my 545is SMG in April '04 and have 6,000 miles on it. Other than the settings, which relates to how fast and hard the shifts are, and the steering paddle operation (on the M3 one side is upshift and the other is downshift, on the 545 both paddles operate the same with a push for down shift or pull for upshift) the SMG systems feel the same.
Drivers that are not familiar with the system, equate faster shifts with smoothness and if you nplay with the settings the M3 will shift faster. This seems true until you get used to driving the car. Remember the first stick shift car you drove, was it as smooth as you can drive them now. Getting used to the SMG is no way near ther learning curve needed when you first drove a stick.

Im either getting an SMG or a 6 speed, as long as the 6 SMG feels similar to the m3 version. I like the m3 version, even in auto mode.

That CTS-v is a very nice car but the residual is just so bad it mkae sthe lease very expensive. One thing i must credit BMW on is that the resale is so good, teh car is pretty affordable for those of us that lease cars.
