If it is any consolation, I get this sometimes with my manual 525d... flooring the throttle does indeed seem to make it worse, or at least doesn't make improve matters. I just put it down to turbo lag, which I also had on my previous 320d.

Not turbo lag at all. Just get the latest software installed.
Mine was as described not it's fine.

I did get a quite a delay when i bought the car. But over the last year with newer software updates and more miles the throttle delay is much less now.

If you get a remap, it removes most of the flat spots and the power comes in more lower in the rev range.
