06 530i, this bad boy has 103k
Lifters are ticking, not just when it's cold. My question is, will this eventually lead to a bigger problem? Also, has anyone experienced a slight "jolt" when coming to a complete stop then idle? This slight vibration comes almost every other time when I stop at a redlight. Nothing crazy, just a subtle shake, then everything's ok.

a.k.a transmission slam. With most cars its a software issue. Yours might be hardware though, a busted mechatronics.
After i had my gearbox serviced and car computer updated, the slamming started and they ain't doing shit about it.
This E60 is my last BMW...

i read the topics on transmission slam and i dont think im having that issue: i have no problem accelerating after i come to a stop, it's when im idle (right after a stop).
anything about how serious the lifters issue is?

mobil 0-40 stopped my cold lifter tick for a 1000 miles. when the oil visc degraded a bit, it came back. goes away when warm. i may try mobil 5-50 next time to see if it goes away for good. my car only has 42k on it.
understand yours is not a cold condition. not sure what oil you are running or what you change intervals are, but you might try a higher visc oil next time. some people will warn against that for sure, its a low risk experiment imho. fairly sure i'm going to try 5-50 next time. i change mine every 7-8k.

changed it about 2 weeks ago with mobile 1 0-40. another topic states that switching from 0-40 to the oil from the dealer stopped the ticking.

I had the transmission slam, it wasn't on acceleration. It was deceleration, as I came to a stop, it became very difficult to get the car to stop smoothly. A new mechatronics later and it has been very smooth.

yes and for a while i thought that switching from bmw oil to mobil stopped the ticking, which it did for a 1000 miles. turns out its just new oil that stops the ticking....why i think a slightly higher visc may stop it. i'm going to find out when my next oil change is due.

^^^+1 also doesnt switching to a higher visc oil(5w-50) burn slightly more gas? I've read lifters normally make noise with higher mileage cars(I have 103k miles) So I never thought too much of it. Just keep up with my oil changes
