Really?
He was asking "is there," not saying "there is."

And my mirror has Alzheimers, too. It's to the point now that I don't use the tilt down feature unless I absolutely have to.

You have to set the switch to the DRIVER'S side in order for it to tilt.

Hi guys,

Had same problem in my '00 328i. Had mirror mechanism changed once or twice to no avail. Just don't use that function anymore as it frustrates me. Guess BMW hasn't figured out how to solve problem yet! Shouldn't happen in this class of vehicle. Doesn't in my wife's Lexus!

Maybe it's not in all markets.

I must not be "special" ... My passenger mirror is set to "dip" when I shift to reverse and then consistently returns to the proper setting. Of course I don't "back up" but a few times a week.

So maybe it's a situation that plagues drivers who spend a lot of time backing up ?!?

Sometimes my passenger side mirror make a grinding sound when returning to the original position. Fortunately, it sounds similar to the Cyberdyne Systems Model T-101 when it was damaged at the end of Terminator I, so it doesnt bother me that much.

I find it mostly makes the sound in the morning. Mostly.
