The side bolsters on one of my E61 comfort seats stopped working this week. I hear a clicking sound that seems to be coming from somewhere near the side control panel or under the seat (like a relay actuating sound) when I push the in/out buttons, but no movement of the bolsters. After a few attempts, the buttons don't even make the clicking sound.
Any ideas? Dead bolster motor? Does anyone know if the seat bolster motor can be replaced from the rear of the seat without removing the seat from the car?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
DG

Take the back covers off and ask someone to push controls. You should be able to tell if motor is working and see what's going on. There is 1 motor down there as far as I can remember that controls both bolsters. I had to fix plastic on the right bolster. You can find instructions on how to remove 2 back covers in TIS manual online. Here are a few pictures https://5series.net/forums/e60-m5-di...rs-ffs-117451/ You will need to take both top and bottom cover off to get to the motor. I don't know if you can replace it without removing the seat.
