Hi! Request is not what you think, lol!

I'd like to see what the manual shift knob looks like on your E60. The 6M knob on my 530xi has a rough edge where the metal meets the leather on the right side. I've tried filing it, but I'm not satisfied how it feels, so I'm thinking of replacing it. Do you still have the stock knob that came with your car or have you replaced it with something else? Is the M5 knob anything special?

So I'd appreciate a pic of the stock knob on your ride or whatever alternatives you may have installed. Thanks.

That's cool. Is it hard to connect the wires?

It's very easy, just tap into the I-drive menu button for illumination.

No pics, but in my 2006 530xi 6 speed I had the wood replica knob. Was pretty cool.

I'm looking online, and it seems that with some, they say the boot is integrated with the knob, so you have to buy both so the wires don't show. They also connect it to the cigarette lighter so you can dim with the dash lights.

There also seems to be two styles: one like yours with the long shaft, and another one with a shorter shank.

I had a 5 speed wood knob on my E39. I agree, it felt smooth. It used to pop off on me whenever I shifted agressively, though. Finally had to epoxy it on, lol!
