Maybe a stupid question - don't you have speed cameras in the US? In Europe they throw the book at you for no front plates because they think it's a speed camera trap avoidance thing.

It's very spotty but growing here. The US has nowhere near as many speed trap cameras as Europe, so the avoidance arguement isn't a broad issue yet.

A clean looking front at last!!! Smooth like a baby's bottom.

Now I need a good looking mesh grill.

P.S. The damaged piece will be offered up on eBay once I have a chance to list it. Watch this space.

Depends on which state. I live in Florida, and there are no front license plates. They only give you 1 plate at the DMV, and it is for rear.

In Florida, we also do not have inspections. So if you have illegal equipment, like front windshield tint.... it's basically impossible to get caught.
You guys are lucky. In Massachusetts, front plate is mandatory. Without it, you won't pass inspection every year. DMV gives out 2 plates per car.

Looks much better . Now i see you also have the x-135 style rims (the flat ones).
Did you already do some research on some other rims? Like if it would be possible to put on the 166s on x-drives? I'm kinda stuck at this moment

Now that my car is going in to get a new front cap:

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=27134&st=15

Should I take this opportunity to leave the front license plate bracket off and go with a clean look? As an alternative I can zip tie it on the lower air intake to make it legal.

The dealer never gave me such choice when I ordered the car!
No front plate if you can get away with it.

Just wonder, do you guys need the front plate to get the inspection sticker every year ??

No routine safety inspections on autos in Oregon. Registration renewal is every two years. All done by mail.

Those 18" flat rims came standard with the M-Sport package for 530Xi. I am keeping them for the summer.

I have not shopped around for winter wheels yet. I'll probably go cheap and pick the ASA JH3 17" rims with Dunlop M3 tires, similar to what you can configure on Tirerack's site. They are for winter use, and will be destroyed by road salt, sand, and big potholes anyways. If they make 17" steel rims will hubcaps I'd go for that first.
