Is the shock supposed to be hard?

Hi, a newbie from Boston.
525i, 2004, purchased on last november.
this is my first-BMW experience.
I doubt that if my car has bad suspension or all the other E60's suspensions are having the same tendency.
I was driving my brother's CTS(also 2004) and I felt this ride is a lot softer then mine.
(525i has wicked hard suspensions like the ones in sport coupes - like G35, or small acura coupes)
I was surprised that cts was so soft.
any advises please?
or should I run to the monroe now?

My Ride: F11 535i M-Sport,, Silver, Black Leather, LED Adaptive headlights
Model Year: 2015
Engine: N55
Sports package suspension is stiffer than standard with less roll.
if it has run-flat tires this will also contribute to a very firm ride.
BMW standard set up is always stiffer than comparable Merc.

Sport package usually means larger tire size and stiffer than normal suspension. Everyone has their preferences but personally I did not want a sport package car due to the stiffer ride.
KAF is correct; if you have runflats they make for an even harder ride due to the very hard sidewalls of runflats.
Having said all that your performance cornering should be better than a non-sport package car but there is a price to pay.
As for the Cadillac CTS, they are not particularly well known for their cornering ability; hence the much softer ride. I would submit their ride is a lot softer than even my non-sport package 535i.
Enjoy your wheels.
