Yes, 1 roll is enough, but don't go crazy and use 1.5 times the actual length you need to cover a part. In other words, be conservative and not too liberal with it. +1 on taking the piece off first before when covering it. It makes it easier.
Also, handy tools to have: blow dryer, so you can heat the vinyl up to go around curves. Very share X-acto knive to trim it.
BTW, $500 for the OEM shadowline is too much. I got mine for about $250 shipped from onlinebmwparts.com. OEM is the best.
