Hi,
I am not very mechanically inclined. But my service notification has come on and I took it into the dealer so that they could read the key and tell me what was due. I have some questions about the necessity of a couple of the changes. Warranty has expired due to the high KM's.

Standard Scope $38 (not sure what this is...something like a colonoscopy for the car?)

Brake Fluid $196 (I am sure this is a no brainer to have done some place else cheaper)

Microfilter Replacement $250 (this is the one I am wondering if it is necessary?) It is a 2008 528i with 90,000km (56,000 miles for my USA friends).

Last one they have is an intake silencer due with the oil change in 7000km. $140 (What is that for?)

Any advice would be welcome!

both brake fluid and mircofilter are diy job but if you're not comfortable working on your brakes, then at least the filter is. I think both filters run around $ 50 and takes around 15 minutes to install. No clue what the scope or the intake silencer is though.

Hi, i just watched a Youtube video
on replacing the microfilters. OMG...i cannot believe BMW charges so much for that!
I think I could do that one...but the brake fluid I will leave to a professional. ;-)

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Cheers

And its the same steps when you do a brake flush..you gotta remove all that stuff...same goes when doing spark plugs too. Highway robbery on that filter no specialty tools well a torx bit
