Service Engine Soon light
My service engine soon light is ramdomly coming on, then goes off after 1 or 2 new starts, BMW repair shop want's $200 just to run the code, any suggestions to save some money ? Also, I have run flats on my 06 530I, car is not equipped with storage for spare tire when I need to change these out, any ideas?
Take it by an autozone when the SES light is on and have the codes read for free. You may get back some gibberish but at least you'll have a code to go on.
For your tires, change them out when your treadwear indicator on the tire shows you need to replace them. RF's are no different then other tires in that fashion.

Autozone wasn't able to help me with reading the code on my car. I ultimately had to take it to the dealer. I'm surprised they want so much just to read the code. Is there an Indy shop that you can take it to? Most shops should be able to run the codes for < $50.

Find a good indy shop or buy a code reader from somewhere like bavarian auto or turner motorsports...
My car was equipped with runflats standard and still had a spare donut in the trunk... do you have the spare tire panel in there? If so buy a donut when you convert to regular tires which I would do as soon as you can! My runflats were a PITA...

Getting a code reader is the way to go, especially if you need to use it multiple times, easy to use and you dont have to pay the dealer each time
